Bianca Buechner, Ph.D.

Dr. Bianca Buechner is a German attorney and admitted to the bar in Germany. She gained her Ph.D. in Law. Her research for her dissertation was focused on the research with human biological material and the legal and ethical use in research and biobanking in Germany. Dr. Buechner also worked on various types of clinical trial agreements in the legal department of a pharmaceutical company in Germany as well as in the United States.

Currently, Dr. Buechner is a LL.M Candidate in the Health Law, Policy and Bioethics at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law Indianapolis.  Besides her studies Dr. Buechner works as a Research Assistant at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law Indianapolis, Hall Center for Law and Health, and the Indiana University Center for Bioethics. She is jointly mentored by Dr. Eric Meslin, the Director of the Center for Bioethics and Professor Eleanor D. Kinney, Co-director of the Hall Center for Law and Health, Emeritus. This unique pairing of an ethicist and a lawyer provides strong scientific mentorship as well as mentorship in interdisciplinary science to develop and improve the ethical and legal concepts of research with human biological material. Her research project focuses on transnational/cross-border research with human tissue and cells and the exchange of research data between the United States and Germany as a reference state of the European Union.
