  • ASBH 2026 Conference Schedule

2026 Annual ASBH Conference Schedule Released

The American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) has released the schedule for their 2026 annual conference, which will take place right here in Indy at the JW Marriott. The conference will take place this fall, from October 14th to October 17th.  Multiple IUCB faculty, staff, and affiliates will be presenting their work and participating in different panels throughout the conference.  

  • IUCB Director, Peter Schwartz, MD, PHD, will be participating in two separate panels. The first panel, which will be on Friday, October 16th, is titled, “Shared Decision Making: When and Why,” which will also include IUCB Faculty Investigator, Josh Rager, MD, MA, MS, and friends of the IUCB, Justin Clapp, PhD, MPH, and Peter Ubel, MD, who have both presented in past Bioethics Grand Rounds.
  • The second panel, titled, “Should a Healthy Research Participant be Told that their Brain Imaging and Biomarkers Show High Risk for Alzheimer’s Disease,” will include Dr. Schwartz, IUCB Faculty Investigator, Colin Halverson, PhD, IUCB Affiliate Faculty Member, Amy Waltz, JD, and Andrew Saykin, PsyD, who serves as head of the Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (IADRC). This panel will take place on the morning of Saturday, October 17th.
  • IUCB Program Manager, Seamus Donahue, MA, will present his paper titled “Just Say No to AI,” on Thursday October 15th.
  • IUCB Affiliate Faculty member, Amber Comer, PhD, JD, FAAHPM, will be presenting on her work titled “Life Unworthy of Life: Professional Reorientation and the Object of Protection in Nazi Medicine,” on Friday October 16th.
  • IUCB Faculty Investigator, David Craig, PhD, will present his paper titled, “Caring for Medicaid: Prioritizing Health-Seeker Agency over Autonomy,” and participate in a panel, “Amplifying Community Voices in Health Policy: Strategic Uses of Public Humanities by All Means Available,” both on Saturday, October 17th.
