The IUCB’s own Colin Halverson, PhD, was recently recognized during the 2026 Department of Medicine’s Annual Meeting as a Pyramid Award Recipient, receiving the Outstanding Early Career Investigator Award. This award recognizes early-career faculty who have demonstrated excellence and promise in research.
Dr. Halverson has certainly demonstrated excellence in research throughout his career, producing valuable research in a number of areas, ranging from studies on the diagnostic odyssey of individuals with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes to research on the use of emoji in clinical settings, including serving as co-chair of NICER (National Initiative for Clinical Emoji Research). Dr. Halverson has also displayed a commitment to the advancement of ethical practices in healthcare and health research in a variety of ways outside of research, such as running our primary responsible conduct of research (RCR) courses, GRDM-G504 “Intro to Research Ethics,” and the RCR Workshop.
