Dr. Rager Presents on Shared Decision Making at SGIM Annual Meeting

Dr. Rager presents at SGIM

The Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) met earlier this May in Washington DC for their annual meeting to highlight their role in promoting excellence in general internal medicine. Among those gathering to discuss their work in this field was IUCB Faculty Investigator, Joshua Rager, MD, MA, MS.

Dr. Rager presented his work on shared decision making, specifically looking into the frequency and quality of recommendations of shared decision making in guidelines for the general internist. In his research, Dr. Rager and team not only did a full search of relevant guidelines for recommendations of shared decision making, but they also assessed the quality and facilitation of such recommendations. Reviewing over 700 different guidelines, they found that just over half possessed a recommendation of shared decision making, yet only one recommendation achieved the highest quality rating.

You can find more information about the SGIM here.
