IUCB Assistant Research Professor, Tom Doyle, PhD, will travel to the 7th Annual ELSI Congress to present on results from the “Biobanking in Indiana” public deliberation. The ELSI Congress is a biennial conference which provides a dedicated meeting for researchers focused on the ethical, legal, and social implications of genetic and genomic research and its translation into clinical care.
Dr. Doyle, along with IUCB Director, Peter Schwartz, MD, PhD, conducted the public deliberation on biobanking to gather the public’s perspective on ethical issues in biobanking and specifically on the return of actionable and non-actionable results. The deliberants showed support for returning both actionable and non-actionable results, although support for returning actionable results was slightly stronger.
