The Regenstrief Institute will be holding their 6th Annual Healthcare AI Conference from September 14-16, and several IUCB faculty will be hosting a bioethics panel. The conference will bring together the academic researchers building the next generation of healthcare AI in the health system and industry leaders working to put it into practice, with a focus on real-world implementation within complex health ecosystems.
The bioethics panel will take place on September 15th from 2:30-4 PM and will feature IUCB Director, Peter Schwartz, MD, PhD, Faculty Investigators, Jane Hartsock, JD, MA, and Josh Rager, MD, MA, MS, and Assistant Research Professor, Tom Doyle, PhD. The panel discussion will focus on emerging ethical considerations related to the use of AI in healthcare and research, including insights from the IUCB’s own experience identifying and addressing potential ethical issues with a new AI tool designed to predict the progression of chronic kidney disease. You can read more about that study here.
As a bonus, you can also stick around after the bioethics panel for the conference’s lightening talks and research matchmaking session, which will feature IUCB Faculty Investigator, Colin Halverson, PhD, to discuss his work on AI usage in qualitative research.
