The 2026 Health Humanities Consortium Conference is set to take place here at IU – Indianapolis next week, and several IUCB faculty members will be presenting their work. The conference is an international convening of scholars, practitioners, and students that promotes health humanities scholarship, education, and practices at the intersection of the humanities, arts, and social sciences in health, illness, and health care. The conference will start Wednesday, April 8th and run through Saturday the 11th.
Peter Schwartz, MD, PhD, will be presenting Thursday, April 9th at 9 AM in session 1B on “Diabetes and Hope: Cost and a Con Game at the Core of Contemporary Care.” Colin Halverson, PhD, will be presenting on Friday, April 10th, at 9 AM on “Justice for Roaches, or Aspirations for a Truly Universal Research Ethics.” Jane Hartsock, JD, MA, will also be presenting on Friday the 10th, on “Artificial Intelligence and the Physician Patient Relationship: An Applied Ethics Analysis.” Lastly, on Saturday, April 11th, Margaret Gaffney, MD, will be presenting on “Conscience and Its Double: Pedagogical Uses of Performative Readings from the Conscience Project.”
