Health systems are no longer asking whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) works in the lab. They are asking how to deploy it safely, equitably, and at scale. Now in its sixth year, the Annual Healthcare AI Conference brings together the academic researchers building the next generation of healthcare AI in the health system and industry leaders working to put it into practice.
The 2026 theme, “Operationalizing Intelligence,” extends the conversation beyond model development to real-world implementation within complex health ecosystems and beyond. Our program explores what it takes to make AI a scalable, sustainable reality in modern healthcare, focusing on:

- Real-World Approaches: Bridging the gap between data science and clinical application.
- Trust and Transparency: Navigating the complexities of automated decision-making in patient care.
- Governance: Establishing the policies and oversight necessary for safe, system-wide deployment.
- Equity: Ensuring AI-driven solutions reduce disparities and serve diverse populations.
Through keynotes, panel discussions, and case studies from innovators and industry partners, attendees will gain practical insight into what is working in real deployments, and where the field goes next. The conference also offers dedicated opportunities to connect with potential collaborators across the IU research community, Indiana health systems, and industry.
