 In this Translational Research Ethics: Applied Topics presentation, Peter Schwartz, MD, PhD, will discuss the ethical complexities of studying patient use of large language models and will explore solutions and best practices for researchers.  

In bioethics and adjacent fields, enhancing the involvement of seriously ill patients in their medical care is commonly framed as better aligning care with patients' 'values and preferences' (or 'goals,' 'wishes,' 'priorities,' etc.). In this Bioethics Grand Rounds, Justin Clapp, PhD, MPH, will examine this framing by interrogating the conceptions of mind, action, and interaction that underlie it.   

This talk traces how anatomy atlases and education have rendered certain bodies visible, usable, and disposable, by describing how the Pernkopf and Spanner atlases were created from the bodies of people executed by the Nazis. Professor Claudia Krebs will examine how these legacies, and the ways they objectify the human body, continue to shape power dynamics in medicine. In the 2026 Annual Silvers Lecture, we will consider how practices of remembrance can transform contemporary bioethics and challenge educators and clinicians to look differently at the human body in medicine today.
