In 2019, the federal government required first hospitals and then insurers to publish their negotiated prices.
Insurer and hospital compliance with the data requirements has improved over time, but issues with enforcement, as well as quality and usability of data, remain. Several states have stepped in to provide enhanced enforcement of the federal rules, adding their own requirements in some cases.
Drawing upon articles in the Health Affairs Forefront series “Provider Prices in the Commercial Sector,” supported by Arnold Ventures, the panelists will discuss their experiences using the data, as well as needs and ideas for future improvement.
