Introduction:

On October 3, 2019, Andrew Brightman, PhD, gave a presentation entitled "Ethics of Research Involving Wearable Technologies," in which he explains the differences between regulated medical and unregulated consumer health and fitness technologies. Dr. Brightman discusses the core ethical issues of research involving wearable technologies, such as: protecting the privacy of participants; veracity and security of data; and ensuring informed consent. Who has access to your smart watch data, who’s interpreting it, and what are they doing with it?
