The Ethics of Wearing Two Hats: How to Provide Clinical Care and Conduct Research Simultaneously and Ethically

Introduction:

This lecture, given on June 22nd, 2023, is presented by Colin Halverson, Ph.D., Faculty Investigator at IU Center for Bioethics. The seminar considers how to ethically conduct research when you are both a clinician and researcher. Some questions that will be addressed include: What are the ethical dangers of being both a clinician and a researcher? Can you be both a clinician and a researcher for the same patients? What protective steps can one take to play both roles ethically? Could conducting research make for a better clinician?
