Introduction:
On June 6th, 2019, Mary A. Ott, MD, MA gave a presentation entitled "Research with Children: Essentials for Investigators." Dr. Mary Ott discusses the ethical concerns with involving children in research. Due to the vulnerability of this population (in terms of dependence on others, access to resources, and power dynamics), special research methodologies must be employed. Here, Dr. Ott elucidates children's vulnerabilities and the conditions that allow appropriate access to the as research participants.
