Secondary Use of Public Health Data: Ethics in the Context of COVID-19

Introduction:

On February 18th, 2021, Dr. TJ Kasperbauer presented a TREATs talk on "Secondary Use of Public Health Data in the Context of COVID-19." Dr. Kasperbauer is a post-doctoral fellow for the IU Center for Bioethics and a member of the Bioethics and Participant Advocacy Program (BPAP). Here, Dr. Kasperbauer discusses the ethics of data privacy, current and potential restrictions on data, responsibilities of researchers, and how to best optimize COVID-19-related data.
