  • Amber Comer Presents Silvers' Annual Lecture

Amber Comer Presents "Social Darwinism, Nazi Experiments, and the Birth of Modern Bioethics" for Annual Silvers' Lecture

Thursday, April 24, 2025

Our speaker, Amber Comer, JD, PhD, is the Director of Ethics Policy and Secretary of the Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs at the American Medical Association, an Adjunct Professor at the IU School of Medicine and the McKinney School of Law, as well as an affiliate faculty member of the IU Center for Bioethics.

Her presentation focused on the origin of Nazi medical ethics, the atrocities it enabled during the Second World War, and how they informed modern medical ethics. If you were unable to attend the lecture, or would like to watch it again, we highly encourage you to view the recording using the link below.

Thank you to everyone who attended in-person and online! We'd also like to thank Alex Kor, MD and Barry Feig, MD for helping us organize this event. And of course, thank you Amber for giving such an insightful presentation.
